A young
man with a good career loses his grip on it. An active man
starts sleeping long and odd hours. A businessman starts
neglecting his business. A professional finds his profession
not worthwhile. A housewife stops looking after her house
and children. Someone behaves in a queer way, and somebody
speaks beside the point. A person starts crying or laughing
for no apparent reason or gets angry and aggressive. And
then there is someone who starts doubting the very purpose
of living. There could be imaginary voices, imaginary scenes,
smells, tastes and what not.
This
is schizophrenia - the greatest affliction of human society.
Take hundred people and at least a couple of them could
be suffering from this illness. It runs a chronic course.
Its treatment is both a challenge and a puzzle.
This
book "Divided Mind", edited by Dr. Ulhas
Luktuke, is a guideline to solve this puzzle. Each
article is written by a learned and experienced authority
in the field. It gives information in an easy language on
almost all the queries about the illness.
